Gala 2010

Israel Cancer Research Fund invites all of its donors, members and friends to attend the 33rd annual Gala on Monday, May 17th, 6:30 p.m. at Salle Wilfred Pelletier, Place Des Arts. This much anticipated event will feature Grammy award winner, Joss Stone accompanied by a 12 piece band. The evening program will also include honoring ICRF’s Executive Director Arlene Silver, who for the past ten years has exhibited unparalleled leadership, commitment and dedication. Invitations will be mailed out early April and please do not hesitate to contact the ICRF office for further information.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Next Generation Division The 16th annual ICRF Experience Fashion Show will take place on Wednesday, March 10th, 8:30 p.m. at the Corona Theatre. The evening’s program will include a creative- video based on the theme “16 Candles for 16 Years”. This event is chaired by the dynamic duo of Jill Levi and Marissa Rosen who along with a committed group of producers will stage and choreograph a cast of over 70 volunteers between the ages of 18-25 to perform the latest dances and adorn the most beautiful fashions. The evening promises to be exciting and entertaining for parents, family and friends to share with one another.

New Leadership Division

This committed group of ICRF young adults between the ages of 25-35 in association with the Gonshor Family will host Suri’s Soiree, Saturday, March 27th, 9:00 p.m. at the Segal Center. The event will honor the life, legacy and memory of Sarah Suri, sister of event co-chairs, Michael & Josh Gonshor. 2010 marks the tenth anniversary of the untimely and tragic passing of Suri who lost her battle to cancer. Her spirit is still very much alive in the hearts and minds of her family, her friends and countless others. Everyone is invited to share in our joint effort of raising funds to support research, treatment and ultimately a cure for cancer that strikes young people.

Golf Tournament

Good things come in 3’s! Bonnie Rothstein will chair the 9th annual ladies golf tournament for the 3rd consecutive year on August 9th, 7:30 a.m. at Hillsdale Golf & Country Club. Along with a dedicated committee of 46 women, all 288 participants will receive breakfast, lunch, cart, a variety of raffle packages, opportunity to participate in a silent auction and the challenge to golf on either of the two distinct golf courses. Together we can swing for a cure.

All-Star Softball Game

“One, two, three strikes your out” if you do not attend the third annual ladies all-star softball game scheduled for early August, 2010. Co-chairs Sara Rosenblatt & Lindsay Sacks together with two all-star players from each of the 16 teams will take to the Trudeau Park baseball diamond for nine innings of competitive ball. We can all look forward once again when the Mothers verses Mothers baseball game hits off this fun full day. All of the proceeds from the raffles, refreshments and sponsorships will continue to benefit cancer research. Look forward to further updates.

Annual Meeting

The focus of the upcoming annual meeting in early October will be to honor all past and present volunteers who continue to help raise funds in support of Israeli scientists who are working towards finding a cure for this most dreaded disease. The meeting will be held once again at the Jewish General Hospital, three floors down from the ICRF Laboratory. President Andy Kirstein along with his Executive & Board will highlight the activities of the past year. The date will be confirmed in the very near future.

Women of Action

The 5th annual Women of Action is temporarily scheduled to take place on Sunday December 5th, 2010 at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim. The partnership of ICRF and the Pink Lady Fund of the Jewish General Hospital continues to support worthy Israeli scientists who are responsible to further breast cancer care, research and treatment programs at the Segal Cancer Center of the Jewish General Hospital. This dedicated team of co-chairs, Susan Lavy, Sheryl Rosen Adler, Maureen Tajfel and Julie Wiener along with a growing team of volunteers are working diligently to make sure that all 600 guests enjoy a wonderful brunch, raffle prizes and a valuable loot bag. The highlight of the brunch will once again include three worthy female honorees and a keynote speaker whose story will be captivating and entertaining. The confirmed date to follow.

Gift Wrapping

The 15th annual gift wrapping fundraiser will take place December 10th thru 24th at Rockland Shopping Center. All 168 volunteers remain and look forward to EMBALLAGING, curling ribbons and greeting the many valuable customers opposite Fruit & Passions on the main level. If anyone would like to volunteer to wrap those Chanukah and Christmas presents, please contact the ICRF office immediately. We appreciate anyone who is willing to share many laughs, stories and the honor of helping to raise a minimum of $28K in support of the cause that continues to affect so many family & friends.
