Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada.
It is estimated that in 2020, 617 000 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, and, 228 000 Canadians will die from cancer.
During these demanding times, the cancer community is especially vulnerable. Cancer patients are largely an elderly population, immuno-suppressed due to chemotherapy, are experiencing significant treatment delays and a lack of access to physicians.
The need to support basic science and clinical research programs of our leading medical institutions both in Montreal and Israel, is greater than ever. is especially vulnerable during these demanding times.

Créé en 1975, le FIRC est un organisme à but non lucratif composé de médecins, de scientifiques et de bénévoles déterminés à soutenir la recherche novatrice sur le cancer.
Grâce à ses sections régionales à Montréal, à Toronto, au Connecticut, à New York, à Chicago, à Los Angeles et à Miami ainsi qu’en Israël, le FIRC a amassé plus de 68 M$ et financé plus de 2 400 projets de recherche sur le cancer.

RECHERCHE
Le FIRC Montréal finance la recherche sur le cancer tant ici-même qu’en Israël. Plusieurs de ses boursiers travaillent actuellement à l’Hôpital général juif et au Centre universitaire de santé McGill.
Un conseil scientifique consultatif composé de spécialistes du cancer de renommée internationale examine rigoureusement les demandes de subvention. Seuls les candidats jugés les plus méritants sont sélectionnés.
